The West has won! Taking Singles day by a score of 28.5 to 22.5 allowed the West squad to build on their already sizable lead and win the 2026 SBRMGA Ryder Cup by a final score of 63 to 42. Pictured above are the teams - West in white - East in blue.
PERFECT CUPS
Last year only four golfers pulled off the “Perfect Cup” feat, winning their matches all three days. This year, 14 golfers accomplished that feat. For the West they were Brad Messner, Ed Robertson, Greg Byrne, Jeff Silver, Jim Rasmussen, Jim Rodgers, Ken Rice, Larry Tipton, Mike Johnson, Mike McManus, Rod Linville, and Troy Peterson. Dave Anderson and Sam Rossi were three-time winners for the East.
PAYOUTS
Each golfer received $10 for every match they won and $5 for every match they tied. Additionally, each member of the West Team earns $20 for being part of the victorious squad. Attached are the payouts. Winning team payouts were adjusted for the number of days played, as were the entry fees that each golfer was charged.
CHAMPION POKER CHIP / BALL MAKER
Every member of the winning West team received a commemorative poker chip to celebrate their victory.
CLOSEST TO THE PIN
Day 1 was Kevin Voreis and Day 2 was Joe Cimo – who aced #14! $20 gift cards for both Kevin and Joe as well as their playing partners on those days – Dave Anderson on day 1 and Scott Thordarson on day 2. Day 3 the individual winners who garnered $20 gift cards were Dennis Johnson on hole #5 and Archie Beard on hole #14.
CONTEST FOR A CAUSE
The “Contest for a Cause” on hole #12 was a great success, raising $1,351 for the SaddleBrooke Sunrise Rotary Club to enable them to offer food programs for the children in the Mammoth-San Manuel Unified School District. Attached is an email received from them thanking the SBRMGA for their generous support.
GREAT JOB BY THE CAPTAINS
Thanks to our Ryder Cup Captains, Dennis Johnson, Tim Resh, Tom Lamb and Kevin Voreis. They worked tirelessly putting together the pairings and match ups for the first two days.
