Special Events-Tim Schaal
To annually recognize the best net golfer who consistently partakes in
regular club events.
Overview:
For the calendar year, only regular Thursday club events that result in
a postable round will be included. Golfers who participate in an event
will be eligible to earn points based on their individual net score. Points
are awarded based on a ranking of all scores submitted. Special events
are not included. The golfer who has obtained the most points at year
end will be recognized as the “SBRedEx Cup” champion.
Points:
Points will be awarded based on the exact same table used by the PGA
in 2025 for regular tournaments for the FedEx Cup. The full chart is on
page 4 of this document. The top 85 golfers will receive points. Points
will be rounded off to two decimal places. This is a change from 2025
when points were only awarded to the top 20 finishers and rounded up to
the nearest whole number.
Event Results:
How you or your team finish in an event will have no impact on the
points a golfer is awarded.
Flights:
Points are always determined with all golfers in a single flight,
regardless of the game format.
Net Scores:
Regardless of the rules or handicap percentages used for a specific
game, net scores will always be calculated based on 95% of the golfer’s
course handicap, per USGA recommendations, with a max score of net
double bogey recorded for each hole. This is a change from 2025 when
golfers received 100% of their course handicap.
Incomplete or Unplayed Holes:
Any holes not played in the round or any time a golfer picks up his ball
his score will be a net double bogey, based on 95% of his course
handicap. This is a clarification for 2026 that was not documented in the
2025 proposal.
Scorekeeping:
All SBRedEx Cup events will use live scoring in Golf Genius. One or
more club members will be designated as the SBRedEx score keepers.
They will review/calculate/correct all submitted scores in Golf Genius
and then finalize the round. Points awarded and cumulative points will
be kept in Golf Genius and available on the SBRMGA Golf Genius
portal. These results may also be emailed to the SBRMGA
membership, placed on the club’s website and in printed form on the
designated club spaces in the pro shop. The use of live scoring was not
specifically spelled out in the 2025 proposal, nor was the use of Golf
Genius to keep track of accumulated points and the standings.
Champion Prizes:
The champion will receive a cash prize of $200. They will also have
their name added to a plaque to be hung in the Pro Shop.
The motion was seconded by Tony Salerno and was unanimously approved.
VII. Mike Kravitz made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 9:59AM, Andy Bolland seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved

- Call to Order: Tony Salerno
- Officer and Committee Chair Reports
- Treasurer Report-Steve Schuster absent, he emailed treasurer report to all Board Members. Beginning Balance for September was $ 55,126.00, the ending cash balance was $59,716.
Special Events-Tim Schaal
- SBRedEx Cup minor changes. Tim Schaal made a motion to change the rules of the SBRedEx Cup effective 2026. The 2026 proposal motion:
- New points table that mimics the points table used by the PGA for their FedEx Cup regular tournaments.
- As recommended by the USGA, golfers will receive 95% of their course handicap instead of 100%.
- Live scoring will be used for all events and standings will be kept in Golf Genius.
- Clarification for score to record (net double bogey) when golfer does not play a hole or picks up his ball without holing out.

- Tim Schaal discussed getting a sponsor just for the SBRedEx Cup. Bruce Fink will be looking into it. The prize suggested is $200 cash and a Plaque.
- Coming up special events are:
- Member/Guest October 15th-17th,
- Founders Cup-November 5th and 6th, and
- Eclectic-December 5th and 6th.
- Tim is trying to move the Home and Home event to April to be able to offer more members to play in this event. This issue has been referred to Mike Jahaske to discuss with Saddlebrooke Two Golf Professional because of greens fees and dates.
- Weekly Event Chairman-Mick Borm
- Mick Borm and Tim Schaal have been working together on events for the 2026 Calendar. The Board has received the working copy of the schedule for 2026.
- Rules and Handicap-Joe Valancius
- Joe Valancius wants to mark the official landscaping areas with a different color stake. These areas have been approved by SBRMGA, SBRWGA and the Greens Committee, however, the responsibility to mark has not been decided between Mike Jahaske and Aaron Thomas.
- Secretary Report-Sam Rossi
- Sam Rossi made a motion to accept minutes of July 8, 2025. Andy Bolland seconded the motion. The motion to approve the minutes was unanimously approved.
- President’s Report-Tony Salerno
- Volunteer status-Tony Salerno and SBRWGA Char Burrill have been working on this year’s SBRMGA Member/Guest Event. Mrs. Burrill has been doing an excellent job.
- Surgery report-Tony Salerno reports that he is getting a left knee replacement on November 3rd. During this time Mike Kravitz will be covering some of his duties such as assisting with the Holiday party which is on December 13th.
- Vice President Report-Mike Kravitz
- Member shirts-165 shirts ordered, all delivered except for 14 to snowbirds. SBRMGA gave Mike Jahaske 15 shirts for Golf staff.
- Mike Kravitz is already working on next year’s shirts; catalogs are expected to be avaiable in October.
- Outreach Program Chairman-Bruce Fink
- Donation to charitable organizations, such as First Tee, and Youth on the Course (as presented by Todd Pratt). The Board had different views regarding this matter. There will be further discussion next month.
- Bruce Fink and Todd Pratt will develop an easier way to manage Sponsorships and present next month.
- Bruce Fink presented 2 checks for sponsorship, $100 from Handel’s ice cream and $1,100. from A-1 Golf Carts.
- Bruce Fink would like the owners of Handel’s Ice Cream to meet members at our next SBRMGA Tournament.
- Communication-Andy Bolland
- There have been a couple of articles in The Roundup from the Buba Hawkins and Match Play tournaments.
- The Board discussed paying for a full size ad thanking our sponsors. Tim Schaal and Bruce Fink will work on the ad for The Roundup. Sam Rossi made a motion, and Bruce Fink seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved.
VII. Mike Kravitz made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 9:59AM, Andy Bolland seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved
