II. Reading of the Minutes and Approval
Tom asked if anyone needed the minutes read from the last Board meeting. The Board unanimously approved the minutes.
III. President’s Report
Tom has been looking into insurance requirements for the board. Robson has a liability policy for accidents & such. It was determined that board members personal liability policies should be sufficient for board coverage.
The WGA is having a Sadie Hawkins event 8/30. We have offered to help with the event & assist in finding partners as needed. A mixed sticks event is also in the works with the date to be determined.
IV. Vice President’s Report
Eric reported that the Competition Committee feels that with the World Golf Handicap System, it is fair to allow members to play from the tees they are comfortable. They also agreed to suspend the Local Rule 4 - “Alternative to Stroke & Distance for Lost or Out of Bounds Ball” for special events.
There will be a recognition this year for Most Improved Golfers with an overall as well as A, B, C, & D levels. The formula recommended by the USGA will be used to determine the winners.
Eric has worked with the golf shop to come up with an MGA shirt for this year. One by Cutter & Buck was selected. The shirt cost $42, but the cost to the members will be $20 with the MGA funding the difference.
The MGA will have a table at the upcoming Club Expo. It will be manned by Tom, Eric, Steve, & Ken.
A Pace of Play subcommittee to the Greens Committee has been formed & is being lead by Jean Chezek & Kevin McCarthy.
V. Treasurer’s Report
Mike gave a financial update. He also reported that the website license has been renewed for 2 more years.
VI. Secretary’s Report
Jeff gave a Grounds Subcommittee update discussing things Aaron Thomas & his staff are currently working on on the course.
VII. Weekly Event’s Report
Mick discussed the weekly closest to the pin award. He had been questioned if it was fair to have players from different tees playing for the same award. He has data showing that no one from the rust tees has an advantage. The board agreed to leave this as is.
VIII. Special Event’s Report
Bruce reported there are 100 players signed up for the Ryder Cup that will be held March 9th, 10th, & 17th. Captains BJ Schultz (red team) and Steve Schneck (blue team) have set the pairings. All players will play from the same tee within their respective matches there should not be much of a difference between handicaps within the matches. Drink tickets will be handed out at checkin on the third day & can be redeemed at the Ranch House following play.
The Club Championship will be held April 13th & 14th and will be run the same as last year. If you want to play for the title of Club Championship you must declare championship flight & play from the pine tees. All other flights will be flighted based on the players’ course handicap from their selected tees. There will be a luncheon in the Ranch House Ballroom following play on the second day.
There will be a Member / Member 2-man 2-day event in May.
A group is investigating the possibility of having a multi-day Member / Guest tournament later this year. It will probably be a 2-day event plus a practice round. More to come as this develops.
IX. Membership’s Report
Steve reported that we now have 245 full members, & 40 handicap only members, for a total of 285.
Steve also would like to encourage members to contribute to help the Ukrainian war refugees.
X. Communication’s Report
