III. Presidents Report
Tom welcomed the new members to the board.
He reported that the Greens Committee is forming a subcommittee that will look at data for possibly re-handicapping of the holes.
He would like to form a Competition Committee to look at structure of special & weekly events. This could include format of competition, tees, flights, etc. Would also come up with a recommendation for how to determine most improved players. A motion was made & approved to form the committee. Eric Taylor will lead the committee & members will include Mick Borm, Bruce Haney, & Jeff Pharr.
Tom said that if any member of the board needs help with their responsibilities, don’t hesitate to ask another board member for help.
IV. Vice Presidents Report
Eric Taylor reported he is starting to look into choices for member shirts for this year. He may look at some red & blue options so members can wear for the Ryder Cup event.
He questioned the large increase we had last year in our weekly event range ball charges. Mike Jahaske explained this was due to the increase in participants. They are charging $1 per player per week. The board agreed this was a very reasonable amount.
V. Treasurers Report
Mike Tomaso reviewed the budget for this year & gave a financial update.
Mike also reported that he had filed the necessary reports with the IRS & State & we are up to date.
We are not budgeting for member gifts this year. Instead, we are focused on encouraging our members to participate in our weekly and major events. If members participate, they will get back more than their dues. We will continue to have 1 free weekly event per month.
VI. Secretarys Report
Jeff Pharr said he will be sending out drafts of the minutes after each meeting this year so board members can review & make changes before they are published.
VII. Rules & Handicap Report
George Price reported that he will be relying on assistance from the pro shop for rules questions that come up during competitions.
He noted that the pros will be conducting a rules seminar on 1/19, covering proper dropping of the ball & the special situations that can occur when doing so.
George also gave an update from the Greens Committee. A new nine is on the drawing board. One of the main issues to be addressed with this is where to put a new lake to provide water for the new holes.
We will be staying with single rider carts at least thru February. However, it is still encourage that you pair up when comfortable to limit wear & tear on the turf.
The possibility of putting drop areas in front of some of the washes (particularly hole 11) is being looked into.
A new subcommittee of the Greens Committee is being formed to come up with a comprehensive 3-year plan for the course.
VIII. Weekly Events Report
Mick reported that he will be doing less pick your own partner events this year to encourage playing with different players. Since these are social events, this will encourage more socialization.
He has been working with Bruce on Golf Genius & is confident Bruce will be able to handle the special events without Mick’s assistance.
IX. Special Events Report
Bruce Haney reviewed the special event calendar for the year. There are some open dates available & he is looking into the possibility of bringing back the member / member 2-day event, & the match play event. A member / guest event has been requested & may be considered in the future.
X. Membership Report
Steve Schneck thanked Eric for helping him get started in the membership position.
He reported that we now have 241 full members, & 39 handicap only members, for a total of 280.
